This wordless picture book is very unique from the start since it is held and read horizontal and only consists of black and white pictures with a touch of yellow. The story is about a girl in her attic that uses objects around her to make all types of shadows such as an elephant or wolf. The story continues with the little girl using her imagination to become friends with a wolf shadow, but must leave her fun once "dinner is ready".

I have another book by this same illustrator called The Wave. A few of the students in our class blogged about that text as well. It is obviously the same little girl as the one in this text. I love how the illustrator tells a simple story and uses those pops of color to highlight the action. Both of these are so great for younger readers.
